Sandy Berven is the founder and president of tre Ministries, a Christian young adult ministry center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Through tre, Sandy is committed to helping young adults ages 18–30 discover belonging, purpose and hope while equipping them to live out their God given purpose.

Sandy’s passion for young adults grew during more than 16 years of service in various church leadership roles. As she supported young people in their spiritual, personal and professional development, she recognized a significant need for a dedicated place where young adults could build meaningful relationships, grow in their faith, develop leadership skills and receive guidance while navigating life’s many transitions. That calling became the foundation for tre Ministries.

Today, tre provides a welcoming, faith-based community where young adults can connect, serve and grow. Under Sandy’s leadership, the ministry has developed programs centered on discipleship, servant leadership, personal development and community engagement. Sandy believes young adults are not only the leaders of tomorrow but they have valuable gifts, ideas and influence to contribute today.

Service is central to Sandy’s leadership philosophy. Through initiatives such as Love Your City, tre brings young adults together to serve local nonprofits and meet practical needs throughout Sioux Falls. The ministry has also partnered with churches, businesses and community organizations, including the Sioux Falls Police Department, Volunteers of America and the Sioux Falls Skyforce creating opportunities for young adults to strengthen their faith while becoming active and invested members of their community.

Sandy is also leading the vision for Project 18:19, a mixed-use young adult living and community campus designed to bring housing, leadership development, gathering spaces and community engagement together in one environment. Through this project, she hopes to create a place where young adults can establish healthy relationships, gain practical leadership experience and build a lasting connection to Sioux Falls.

Before entering ministry, Sandy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality from North Dakota State University. She worked in hospitality, restaurant management and event leadership for several years, including opening Falls Landing restaurant in downtown Sioux Falls with her husband, Doug. These experiences helped shape her entrepreneurial spirit, relational approach and commitment to creating environments where people feel welcomed and valued.

Beyond tre, Sandy serves on the Ministry Support Committee and Strategic Planning Task Force for Kingdom Capital Fund. She is also involved with The HopeLine, a national organization providing support and hope to young adults.

Originally from Minot, North Dakota, Sandy now calls Sioux Falls home. She and Doug are grateful to have their two adult children and son-in-law. Chase Berven and Brynn and Jordan Huser all live and work in the Sioux Falls community. As a family, they share a deep commitment to serving others and investing in the city they call home.
