D2 Week 1 - God Equips The Called

Chances are the pressure of having good grades, impressive resumes, convincing cover letters, and great Linked In impressions have convinced you that you are not equipped until you've checked off the boxes needed to fulfill the job at hand. Each "knock" on your youth has told you that you aren't ready and that you'll have to wait your turn.

But what if you were told that being equipped has nothing to do with a resume or cover letter? What if you were told all it takes to be equipped is to simply say "yes"?

Over and over again we see God calling ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Moses, a man living in the desert who was considered to be a failure went on to lead a nation to freedom.

David, a shepherd boy who was looked down upon went on to defeat an oversized warrior.

Peter, an ordinary fisherman who struggled with identity went on to lead the church after Jesus' resurrection.

These stories make it clear that A CALLING FROM GOD ALWAYS PRECEDES THE COMPETENCY OF MAN.

You see, God didn't choose these people because they were expected to do what they ultimately accomplished. He chose them because He knew they were capable of being obedient and faithful to His plan for their life.

Being equipped has nothing to do with your skillset, but everything to do with your obedience to God.

If you could do it on your own, it would be your calling and NOT God's.

At the end of the day, it doesn't take a perfect resume or a finely crafted cover letter.

All it takes to become equipped and fulfill your purpose is to follow God with all you are, read His Word, and follow His direction.

He WILL guide your path.

So be challenged this week, this month, and this year to quit obsessing over the checklist the world has given you, and start focusing on the purpose God is communicating to you through your passions, convictions, and prayer.

God's calling on your life will ALWAYS come with the tools you need to carry it out! Don't ignore your calling because you feel incompetent, God will take care of that!
